Which Team Finished With the Best Roster?

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 fantasy football early mock draft is in the books and it’s time to take a look at how each roster stacks up. There are going to be many observations made after looking at the rosters. I have also included which team I believe is the best. If you want to go back and look at where each individual player was drafted, here is how rounds one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight and nine went.

The biggest thing that comes out of this draft is that there were no rookies taken. I know that the skill players that came out weren’t terribly highly thought of and that is evident here. I’m not sure which rookie will be the one to break out, but I’m sure one or two of them will find a way to break into the top 100 players by the time the regular season is over. The other item of note was veteran running backs that weren’t drafted. You can look at players like Ryan Mathews and David Wilson in this case. Those two are scheduled to get all the carries for their teams, but weren’t seen as top 20 running backs. There will be a point made that neither Eli Manning nor Andrew Luck were selected either. I’m sure we will be seeing a ton of both of those quarterbacks this season anyway and they could break the top 10 by fall.

The format again was a PPR league with each team getting a quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, tight end, kicker and a defense. I encourage you to chime in with what you think are good picks or bad picks and who you would have taken instead. Without further ado, here are the completed rosters from the 2013 early mock draft...

Team 1 Recap

recap
Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

QB Robert Griffin III (Round 6)

RB Adrian Peterson (R1)

RB Alfred Morris (R2)

WR Julio Jones (R3)

WR Wes Welker (R4)

WR Reggie Wayne (R5)

TE Owen Daniels (R7)

K Matt Bryant (R9)

Pittsburgh Steelers Defense(R8)

This team waited all the way until the sixth round obviously to get Griffin III. It could be a risky move until you look at the rest of their roster. The running back and wide receiver positions should overcome any sort of decline by Griffin.

QB Drew Brees (Round 2)

RB Arian Foster (R1)

RB Stevan Ridley (R5)

WR Roddy White (R3)

WR Eric Decker (R6)

WR Steve Smith (R7)

TE Aaron Hernandez (R4)

K Blair Walsh (R8)

Cincinnati Bengals Defense (R9)

I really like the combination of Brees and Foster here. There are points to be scored in bunches. White should have another 100 catches and Hernandez looks like he will get more chances at touchdowns this season.

QB Russell Wilson (Round 4)

RB Ray Rice (R1)

RB Marshawn Lynch (R2)

WR Larry Fitzgerald (R3)

WR Greg Jennings (R6)

WR Torrey Smith (R7)

TE Tony Gonzalez (R5)

K Justin Tucker (R9)

Baltimore Ravens Defense (R8)

It is a roll of the dice to go with Wilson as your starting quarterback, but if he can improve his stats some, it will work out. The decision to take Rice and Lynch back-to-back looks like one of the best choices made.

QB Cam Newton (Round 3)

RB Doug Martin (R1)

RB Frank Gore (R5)

WR Dez Bryant (R2)

WR Dwayne Bowe (R4)

WR Mike Wallace (R6)

TE Greg Olsen (R8)

K Matt Prater (R9)

San Francisco 49ers Defense (R7)

There are a few unknowns with this roster especially with Bowe and Wallace. I’m not sure if either one of them will get the same production as last season.

Team 5 Recap

QB Colin Kaepernick (Round 3)

RB Darren Sproles (R4)

RB DeMarco Murray (R5)

WR Calvin Johnson (R1)

WR Brandon Marshall (R2)

WR Marques Colston (R6)

TE Vernon Davis (R7)

K Sebastian Janikowski (R8)

New York Jets Defense (R9)

The running back position is really shaky taking Sproles as their top rusher. The picking of Johnson and Marshall, however, gives this team the best two receivers on the board.

QB Peyton Manning (Round 4)

RB LeSean McCoy (R1)

RB Steven Jackson (R3)

WR A.J. Green (R2)

WR Danny Amendola (R5)

WR Pierre Garcon (R6)

TE Antonio Gates (R7)

K Stephen Gostkowski (R8)

San Diego Chargers Defense (R9)

Manning is going to be trusted on a lot to carry this group. I like what Green has done in recent years and the choice of Amendola could be a big home run or a major mistake.

Team 7 Recap

QB Aaron Rodgers (Round 1)

RB Chris Johnson (R4)

RB Darren McFadden (R6)

WR Andre Johnson (R3)

WR Vincent Jackson (R5)

WR Stevie Johnson (R7)

TE Jimmy Graham (R2)

K Dan Bailey (R9)

Chicago Bears Defense (R8)

This is the best team around after the draft in my opinion. The combination of Rodgers and Graham to go with the running game would lead me to believe this would be the winning team overall.

Team 8 Recap

Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

QB Matt Ryan (Round 6)

RB Trent Richardson (R1)

RB Reggie Bush (R4)

WR Percy Harvin (R2)

WR Randall Cobb (R3)

WR Michael Crabtree (R5)

TE Dennis Pitta (R8)

K Phil Dawson (R9)

Seattle Seahawks Defense (R7)

I was wondering how long this team would wait to pick a quarterback and it took until the sixth round. There is a ton of talent here with Richardson and Bush and if Harvin can do anything like he did last season, watch out.

Team 9 Recap

recap
Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

QB Matthew Stafford (Round 4)

RB Jamaal Charles (R1)

RB Maurice Jones-Drew (R2)

WR Victor Cruz (R3)

WR Hakeem Nicks (R6)

WR Antonio Brown (R7)

TE Jason Witten (R5)

K Rob Bironas (R9)

Houston Texans Defense (R8)

I like how the running back position is set up here with Charles and Jones-Drew. Stafford may have to throw another 700 times and Witten may rack up another 90-100 catches. A very solid team overall to say the least.

Team 10 Recap

recap
Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

QB Tom Brady (Round 3)

RB C.J. Spiller (R1)

RB Matt Forte (R2)

WR Demaryius Thomas (R4)

WR Jordy Nelson (R5)

WR James Jones (R7)

TE Rob Gronkowski (R6)

K Connor Barth (R9)

Denver Broncos Defense (R8)

I want to believe that this is the second best team for a very simple reason. If Gronkowski is healthy from day one which isn’t a given, Brady will be looking to him a lot. When you can double up your points, it is an added bonus. I love how this team is set up.
