Stan Van Gundy might be one of the most quotable people in all of sports. The former coach has no problem voicing his opinion on any topic. The Los Angeles Lakers fired Mike Brown on Friday and Van Gundy wasted no time blasting the decision.
Former Magic coach Stan Van Gundy called the Lakers’ firing of Mike Brown, “the most ridiculous firing in the history of the NBA.”

I am definitely on Van Gundy’s side with this. Firing a guy five games into the season is borderline ridiculous. Brown was not the entire reason for the team struggling. The fact that the defense is non-existent is a bigger piece of the puzzle. When your team is old and banged up, you can’t throw the blame on the head coach.
If the Lakers really wanted to entertain all of us, they should go out and fire Van Gundy. Imagine him and Dwight Howard paired up again - there would need to be cameras around at all times. Howard did everything but drive a bus over Van Gundy last year, but it was Howard who took the beating in the media. As always, you can not beat a Van Gundy.
There are lot of people in basketball who are wondering about this decision. They have not gone as far as SVG did but maybe they do not have to. If you have former coaches blasting your practices, they might be right. A huge overreaction by the team.
