Burak Yilmaz: Possible Destinations For Next Season

Burak Yilmaz has scored 20 times in the Turkish Super League and a total of eight times in the UEFA Champions League. Finding the back of the net has not been a problem for the Turkish international striker, and finding a new home before the start of the next season shouldn’t be an issue either.

Before he even signed for Gala roughly a year ago, Yilmaz was said to be signing a multi-year deal with Russian club Spartak Moscow. Once that deal fell through, Galatasaray immediately paid the five million euro release clause in his contract to split him from Trabzonspor. Since then, he has fit in impressively and worked hard with his teammates. He is not the fastest or smartest player, but he has a clear eye for goal and can win a team games. Imagine him on a team with slightly more talent…

Lazio of Italy were said to have pinned their interest on Yilmaz, but nothing has been set in stone as of yet. He can join that squad to replace the aging German international striker Miroslav Klose. He can immediately start and score goals off the bat for them. He would be a good fit inside the Stadio Olimpico.

La Liga’s Atletico Madrid who are on the verge of selling ace Colombian international striker Radamel Falcao were also interested in the Turk’s services. He wouldn’t be as good for them talent wise, but he could score at least 15-20 goals for the Spanish outfit in all competitions. That should suffice for a top-four side, who also have other strikers such as Diego Costa who nets plenty.

Manchester United, the Premier League champions, are said to have had some interest in Yilmaz as well. Is it true? Honestly, there is no true proof around. However, he could join the Manchester side and score goals off the bench. Why of the pine? Robin Van Persie will not be benched in his place. Unless Sir Alex Ferguson decided to switch to a formation that fields two strikers, Yilmaz would have to wait his turn.

If he does not move though, Galatasaray is still a good team for him to play for. He scores at ease in the domestic league, can score in Europe for them and is on the verge of becoming a league champion with them. Unless he wants to go somewhere for a new challenge at the age of 27, he should stay right where is — home.
