Cristiano Ronaldo has hit the 200 goal mark for Real Madrid in competitive games.
Ronaldo found the net 196 times for Manchester United over six seasons, whilst he has already bettered that in four in Spain. Of course he began in England at just 18.
Amazingly, Ronaldo has scored 200 goals in 196 games, which is an incredible record and really highlights how he is one of the world’s best, whilst justifying his £80m transfer in 2009. Ronaldo is still down in the pecking order of Madrid’s greatest ever goal scorers, however, as Raul leads the way with 323 in 741 appearances.
If he is to ever beat that record, the rumors about a possible departure from the club would have to be proven false – with strong claims that he and Sir Alex Ferguson are keen on him returning to the Premier League champions.
However, Ronaldo has hit the double century mark quicker than any of Madrid’s top five goal scorers. Raul took 405 games whilst the man next ahead of Ronaldo, Hugo Sanchez, took 268 games (he scored a total of 208 goals). So by those standings, Ronaldo is Madrid’s most lethal striker, but still several seasons off the most prolific.
Ronaldo has scored a massive 53 goals this season in 52 games, meaning he is now one goal away from making it his best ever season at the club. That includes 33 La Liga goals. More so, Ronaldo has hit the frame of the goal nine times this season, more than any other player.
Question marks remain over Ronaldo’s future and how happy he is in the Spanish capital, but it is evident that it isn’t affecting his on the pitch performances which continue to be nothing short of remarkable.
