2013 Guard JaJuan Johnson Pledges Commitment to Marquette

Jamie Rhodes-US PRESSWIRE

Marquette head coach Buzz Williams is piecing together quite the recruiting class for next season.

On Friday, Williams and the Golden Eagles added their third top-100 prospect with the addition of 6-foot-5 guard, JaJuan Johnson. The latest pick-up for Marquette is their fifth for the 2013-14 season.

In addition Johnson, the Golden Eagles also hold commitments from Deonte Burton, John Dawson, Jameel McKay, and Duane Wilson. Both Burton and Wilson are natives of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and fellow top-100 prospects.

Johnson comes to Marquette by way of Memphis, Tennessee where he currently attends Southwind H.S. (TN). The wing threat is labeled at No. 63 overall within the class of 2013 by both Rivals and ESPN.

An impressive run during the spring and summer months helped push Johnson’s potential into the national spotlight. During his time on the AAU circuit he ran with the Bluff City Legends.

Marquette, under Williams’ guidance, has continuously provided a sense of toughness and willingness to overachieve preseason expectations. The class of 2013 may just be Williams’ best since taking over the Golden Eagles’ program and that provides more than enough excitement for the team’s future.

A number of top-notch programs had been in pursuit of Johnson throughout his recruitment. His decision came in favor of Marquette after late consideration from both Alabama and Miami (FL). Johnson visited both schools during the month of September, but it was his official visit to Marquette that ultimately helped seal the deal.
