Fran Fraschilla Says Julius Randle Could Be “Alpha Dog” On Next Year’s Kentucky Wildcats

Andrew Wiggins has not yet decided. But we can still hear the rumblings about the other top players in next year’s freshman class, and Julius Randle certainly fits the bill.

“If Julius can figure out a few things at Kentucky next season, there’s no reason he won’t compete with Andrew for the top spot in the draft next season,” Fran Fraschilla said to wdrb.com’s Rick Bozich. “He’s that talented and skilled.

Fraschilla believes that if Randle can switch the ratio a bit on the types of shot he takes then he can be top player in Lexington next year. Maybe even a higher draft pick than Wiggins.

“Right now he likes to play 50 percent on the block and 50 percent on the perimeter. If Julius can get those percentages to 70 percent on the block and 30 percent on the perimeter, he’ll make a major jump. His game is a little bit Lamar Odom and a little bit of Zach Randolph. If he can become a little more Zach Randolph, look out. He’s going to be on a team of high-level competitors next year, but he could very easily be the alpha dog.”

Now we’ll just have to see if Andrew Wiggins joins Randle in Lexington, because then we could be talking about a different alpha dog. In the meantime, we’ll all just wait to hear what Wiggins’ plants are between now and May 15th.
