Miami Sophomore Guard Shane Larkin Will Enter the NBA Draft

Dave Daniels- Rant Sports

Miami sophomore guard Shane Larkin, will declare for the draft. The sound you can hear is the sighs of Hurricanes’ fans all across the country.

Larkin’s father Barry, the Hall of Fame baseball player and ESPN analyst, was the one to say Friday that his son will declare for the draft.

Well, the Miami Hurricanes had a magical year and Larkin was a huge reason why; he is rated as a first round draft pick on many boards and honestly he is doing the right thing by declaring. Next year’s draft class is absolutely loaded and Larkin has a much better chance to get drafter higher in this year’s draft.

Larkin led Miami to their first ACC title, but they were unable to keep it going during March Madness. Sunday is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft, so Larkin is way ahead of schedule on this decision. The big question now is who will draft him? Only time will tell.

Larkin averaged 14.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.3 turnovers last year and it wouldn’t surprised me to see him get picked near the end of the first round. That likely depends on how his workouts go. I’ll be rooting for the young man; his play during the ACC tournament was stupendous, but I do wonder if he will be able to get his shot off at the next level.
