Time For Joe Paterno Movie Isn’t Now

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

I had thought that Joe Paterno was in the past after his death and everything that has gone on at Penn Statebut I guess I was wrong. It has been announced that Al Pacino will play Paterno in a movie based on a book written about Paterno.

I am really tired of seeing or hearing about Paterno at this point. I wish it could just go away.

Do you really need a movie about Paterno right now? Does this need to be done at all? I don’t see a need for it, and it will be a movie that I won’t take the time to go see. While Pacino is a great actor, I’m kind of surprised that he would take this role on. There are a lot of people who have Paterno fatigue at this point, and maybe by the time the movie comes out in 2014, people will want to go to the theater to see it but right now, that won’t be happening.

We live in a world where every step is looked at and analyzed, which isn’t fair to anyone. Paterno’s life isn’t one that needs a movie made about it. The missteps at the end while at Penn State sealed Paterno’s fate to me. It is just another situation where people have to make a movie out of almost any book that is written these days. I will be saving my money and just letting someone else tell me how this turns out.
