What can We Expect from Baylor in 2013?

Jerome Miron-US PRESSWIRE

One of college football best-kept secrets is Baylor Bears coach Art Briles. He has turned Baylor into one of the nation’s better programs through a solid system. Oh yeah, he did get some help from a guy named Robert Griffin III too, But Baylor’s offense continues to be quite exciting and it’s being done with three different quarterbacks in three seasons.

Plus, the team wins. The past two season has seen the team win eight games each, and nothing says it shouldn’t be done in 2013.

It shouldn’t come as that much of a shock. Briles has a track record of building strong offenses. When was the head coach at Houston, his teams were always fun to watch. They scored points in bunches and without some of the household names we see at other programs. He’s taken that spirit to Waco and is giving Bears fans something fun to watch.

The big question for Baylor will be if they can contend for a Big 12 Title in 2013? Well, that may be a bit of an uphill battle, but if you would have told me RG3 would have won a Heisman Trophy, I probably would have said that was a stretch with Andrew Luck playing at Stanford too.

So, you never know what next season will bring. But one thing is for sure, they’ll stick around and make some noise. It’s great to see an institution dedicated to academics perform well in sports. Baylor is a good school and seems to do things the right way. It is hard not to pull for the Bears.
