Brandon Weeden Has High Expectations For Cleveland Browns in 2013

(Ron Schwane/USA Today Sports)

With the 2013 NFL season just a few months away, it’s no secret the AFC North will contain one of the toughest divisions in football once again. Unfortunately for the Cleveland Browns, they may still be at least another year or two away before they can be placed in the category of contenders for the division as the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers will all be difficult to defeat.

However, if you ask Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden–he believes the Browns have a shot at being a really good team in 2013.

There were plenty of questions surrounding Cleveland heading into the 2013 NFL Draft when it came to whether they would select a quarterback or not considering all of the uncertainty surrounding Weeden, but it appears they’re willing to give the quarterback at least one more shot to prove himself next season. Weeden had his struggles just like any other rookie, but the fact that he’s a little bit older puts him at a disadvantage.

Even if the Browns don’t have the best group of wide receivers to make life easier for Weeden–there’s still going to be plenty of pressure on his shoulders heading into next season and it wouldn’t be a surprise if this ended up being his final shot to prove himself as a starter.

This year’s draft class had plenty of quarterbacks that were worth taking a risk on–so let’s hope the Browns are as good as Weeden thinks they are so he can hang on to his starting job beyond the 2013 season.
