Arkansas Razorbacks QB Brandon Mitchell Will Transfer

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

Brandon Mitchell will be leaving the Arkansas Razorbacks and head coach Bret Bielema has only himself to blame. According to ESPN, Bielema asked Mitchell if he would try a different position than quarterback after spring practices. It clearly irked Mitchell and it is hard not to blame him.

“With the competition not being over at quarterback, I’m just focused on strictly quarterback,” Mitchell told ESPN. “I don’t even want to consider anything else right now. My mind’s on quarterback.”

The Razorbacks will be in for a rough year of football as Alabama looks to capture their third straight national title. Mitchell is transferring along with three other players as well.

“Through meetings with these student-athletes, a determination was made that it would be mutually beneficial for them to pursue their goals elsewhere,” Bielema said. “We fully support them and wish them all the best moving forward.”

The others leaving are defensive end Austin Flynn, safety Defonta Lowe and running back Keante Minor; this could definitely hurt their chances next year.

Bielema is not handling his position well so far and if the Razorbacks hope to achieve success then their head coach will have to adapt his ways a bit more. We’ll just have to see what the Razorbacks can muster next year, but it should be an amazing year of college football.
