Luke Joeckel
If you're a casual football fan, the 2013 NFL Draft is going to be the most boring in recent memory for you, but if you love the depths of the game as well as the X's and O's, you're going to love it. Four of the top 10 prospects in this year's draft are offensive linemen and almost half of the projected first-round picks are big guys ready to protect NFL passers. Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel is the this year's Andrew Luck; he's the surest thing on the board and he'll be a brick wall behind one quarterback's blind side for the next decade. The same goes for Eric Fisher from Central Michigan and Lane Johnson from Oklahoma, as well as three-time BCS champ Chance Warmack, a hoss of a guard from Alabama.
The only other offensive player in the top 10 is the last man on the list and that's Tavon Austin from West Virginia, who's been frequently been called the next Percy Harvin. He's going to be a high-risk/high-reward playmaker for whichever team overdrafts him in the first round.
Four pass-rushers in the top 10 are Dion Jordan from Oregon, Sharrif Floyd from Florida, Barkevious Mingo from LSU and Ezekiel Ansah from BYU. So we're going to have four top-notch pass protectors entering the league to fend off four top-tier pass-rushers. These are going to be Brady/Manning-type rivalries in the trenches for years to come. If you love every aspect of football, this is a legendary draft.
Speaking of new rivalries, the final prospect in our top 10 is cornerback Dee Milliner from Alabama, who could be a rival for Austin if the two get drafted by AFC North rivals at picks No. 6 and 17, like many mock drafts are projecting.
