2013 NFL Draft Player Prospect Profile: Jesse Williams

Alabama is a university that has a strong reputation for their defense and it’s played a major role in why they’ve won three of the last four National Championships. When looking at what Jesse Williams has accomplished over the last two seasons, there’s a reason why the Alabama star is being considered one of the top defensive prospects in this year’s draft class as he possesses great strength and outstanding frame for a player his side.

The Crimson Tide have seen numerous defensive players make the transition to the NFL level over the last couple of seasons and have an immediate impact playing as a rookie. With the amount of potential shown over the last couple of seasons, there’s no reason why Williams shouldn’t be able to do the same and it should come as no surprise to see his draft stock rise over the last couple of weeks.

Unfortunately just like other players, Williams has his areas in need of improvement and if he can manage to become more effective as a pass rusher, he could be one of the top steals as a late first round or early second round pick in this year’s draft. The potential is certainly there for Williams and it will be interesting to see what type of impact he has as a rookie during the 2013 season and which teams are willing to take a risk on him once the draft gets under way in a few days.
