Derrick Rose in new “Don’t Text and Drive” PSA
Chicago Bulls point guard, Derrick Rose, has been busy while recovering from ACL surgery in the offseason. While rehabbing, the all-star guard has also bought stake in a pizza company, continued his promotions with Adidas, and most recently gave his support to the state of Illinois’ “No Text On Board Pledge Day”.
Appearing in a PSA, Rose shows all of the magical things he can do while driving on the court, but makes sure that texting isn’t one of them when he’s behind the wheel.
“I can do lots of special things when I’m driving. I can go to my left. Move smoothly to my right. My crossover dribble is sick. And I like to crash it over the top. But one thing I never do? I don’t text when I drive. I tell my friends, ‘It Can Wait’. I’m Derrick Rose and I don’t text when I drive. Join my team.”
Rose continues to be one of the most marketable stars in the NBA, and his combination of humility, charm and humble attitude continues to lend itself to various marketing opportunities. In this case, it’s for a cause that can really do a lot of good in the community.
“I have to be focused when I drive, whether it’s on the court or on the road,” Rose said in a press release. “That’s why I don’t text when I drive. I tell my friends: ‘It Can Wait’. I’m proud to join AT&T’s team and help lead this important campaign to warn teenage drivers in Illinois about the real dangers of texting while driving.”
