A battle of 2-0 teams in East Suburban Catholic play highlights the Week 5 schedule…..

St. Viator (3-1, 1-1) at Niles Notre Dame (3-1, 1-0): A key game in the East Suburban at the midway point of the season. A late rally allowed Viator to get past Carmel 28-25. Bobby Calmeyn threw for three touchdowns and nearly 300 yards. Chris James ran for over 240 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Dons won 22-9 over Marian Catholic.

Joliet Catholic (3-1, 2-0) at Marist (4-0, 2-0): A battle between the only 2-0 teams in the conference features a Hilltoppers team that survived a 34-33 overtime win against Nazareth. Ty Isaac ran for over 100 yards for Joliet Catholic. Ian Woodworth threw for over 360 yards as the RedHawks defeated St. Patrick 42-21 and moved to 4-0 for the first time in 25 years.

Marian Catholic (0-4, 0-2) at Benet Academy (3-1, 0-1): Marian was stopped by Niles Notre Dame 22-9 as the Spartans could only amount for under 30 yards rushing. Benet won 41-0 over Rich Central in non-conference play in Week 4. Porter Ontko scored three touchdowns for the Redwings.

Carmel (1-3, 1-1) at Nazareth (2-2, 0-2): The Corsairs fell 28-25 to St. Viator on a late touchdown. Josh Walinski ran for over 110 yards and combined with Nick Grandolfo for three rushing touchdowns. Nazareth lost 34-33 in overtime to Joliet Catholic when a two-point try in overtime failed when the Roadrunners went for the win. Joshua Moore scored three touchdowns for Nazareth.

St. Patrick (2-2) at Bloomington (3-1): The Shamrocks rallied for 21 down to pull within seven but couldn’t get any closer in a 42-21 loss to Marist. Zach Fuller threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to John Dabe. Bloomington defeated Champaign Central 52-6 in Week 4.
