The 2013 basketball close is coming together; slowly but surely. Players are beginning to minimize their lists of schools they are considering and thinking about taking official visits. With some of the top recruits uncommitted, besides Jabari Parker, this will be a crucial time for college basketball head coaches.

One of those recruits that has limited his schools is power forward Jermaine Lawrence. Lawrence, out of Springfield Gardens, New York, is 6-foot-9 but weighs only 190 pounds. Despite the lack of weight and muscle, UNLV, Cincinnati and St. Johns University are in his top three. He has either already taken or will take official visits to all three schools. It is surprising that he has limited his list to these three schools because he was offered scholarships from power house teams such as Syracuse, Kentucky, and Kansas.

However, one could see why he would choose a smaller school; more playing time. Lawrence could probably step onto the court for any of these teams right now with the athleticism he has always displayed. If he were to consider a school like Syracuse, Kentucky, or Kansas, it would be much more difficult for him to find time on the court and develop due to their depth all the way down the bench.

The money, for now, is on St. Johns and Coach Steve Lavin who has proven to be a great coach and recruiter for many years now.
