Here’s the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic for November 2, 2012:
After being shutout 21-0 last January in the National Championship, LSU will be looking for revenge against their SEC rivals on Saturday as they look to hand Alabama their first loss of the season.
This matchup contains two of the top defenses in the nation as the Crimson Tide are allowing just 8.1 points per game this season while the Tigers aren’t far behind them at 14.6 points per game. However, the deciding factor in this game could come down to offense–which gives Alabama an advantage.
Not only are the Crimson Tide averaging over 40 points per game this season, but they’ve won each game this season by at least 19 points. It may be tough, but don’t be surprised if Alabama pulls off the win on Saturday and remain No. 1 in the country.
Nobody could have predicted the Trojans would be heading into their matchup against the Ducks with two losses on the season–but that’s exactly the case. Matt Barkley may no longer be in the running for Heisman, but he can still help USC reach a bowl game and play the spoiler role when it comes to Oregon trying to reach the National Championship game.
If the Trojans have any shot at winning on Saturday, they’ll need to figure out a way to contain a Ducks’ offense that’s averaging over 53 points per game this season.
