Los Angeles Dodgers Are The Team To Beat In 2013

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 Major League Baseball season will be here sooner than later, with spring training under a month away, it appears that there is a serious gap between the competing teams and the teams that have no chance. If there is one team that I believe has the inside track towards making the World Series, it would be the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers have made it very clear to every team in MLB that they are going all-in looking for a championship for the first time in 25 years.

With the signing of Zack Greinke in the offseason, along with last season’s massive trade to bring in several players from the Boston Red Sox, the Dodgers have become a team that will be difficult to stop in 2013. The National League West is very difficult with the San Francisco Giants looking to defend their World Series title, but the Dodgers now have the pitching to compete with San Francisco along with more offense.

I would be shocked if the Dodgers finish below 90 wins and don’t make the playoffs. There is just too much talent on this team to be stopped, and with the cross-town rival Los Angeles Angels making moves of their own, the battle for Los Angeles has begun in earnest. I expect the combination of Greinke and Clayton Kershaw to finish with at least 35 wins between them, and an offense that scores over 900 runs. If those two things happen, the Dodgers will be toasting their way to the World Series and hunting for that first title since 1988.
