Joey Logano was the 34th car to go out and qualify for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway but was the fastest when it was all over.  Joey Logano is in the No. 18 Dollar General Toyota this week for Joe Gibbs Racing.

“I have a lot of confidence heading back to Chicagoland this coming weekend in the Nationwide Series” Joey said, “Adam (Stevens, crew chief) and all of the guys on this team are really the best team in the Nationwide Series garage these days in my opinion and they bring great cars to the track every weekend.”  That confidence shows since the car was fast but not the fastest in the two practice sessions.  The No. 18 car was fourth in the first practice and only tenth in the final practice.

This is Joey Logano’s fourth pole in 13 starts this year and 20th pole in his Nationwide Series career.

The No. 18 car has been driven by various drivers this year and has a 13 point lead in the owner point standings over the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing car.

Brian Scott spun off of turn 4 during his first timed lap and slid through the grass.  He wasn’t able to get the car stopped and crossed the finish line in the grass posting his time of 137.014 MPH.  He was the slowest of the cars.  There was no damage to his car but he will start the race from the back.

Austin Dillon will start second, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. third, Sam Hornish Jr. fourth and points leader Elliott Sadler fifth.  Austin Dillon was the fastest qualifying rookie.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland speedway will be on September 15th at 3 PM ET.  It will be on TV on ESPN2 at 3PM.
