Halfback Shane Vereen Needs an Epic Multi-Level Game Today for New England Patriots

Vereen, Shane 1

New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen is a Swiss army knife, especially after Julian Edelman went down with a season ending injury. During the regular season, Vereen only had 62 carries for 251 yards and three touchdown runs plus only eight catches, 149 catches and a single  touchdown. Last week versus the Houston TexansVereen had seven carries for 64 yards and a touchdown with also five catches for 83 yards and two touchdown receptions which only has happened two other times. I think he could do the same thing this week, and he might need in order to keep the Baltimore Ravens defense on its toes all day.

Vereen was taken in the second round, 56th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of California replacing Marshawn Lynch with fellow pro Jahvid Best which was no small task to say the least.  He has prototypical size of 5′ 10″ and 205 lbs. and next year if he keeps on progressing he could in fact win the week one starting job for the Patriots, which could make them even better in the future or at least with Tom Brady at the helm.

Vereen also is blessed with exceptional speed, in high school he ran a 10.61 100 meter dash which is freakishly amazing for a kid in high school, which is never a bad thing to have when you are used as a running back whom can also catch passes out of the backfield.
