Rant-O-Matic: Brewers vs. Pirates, White Sox vs. Royals

Here’s the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic for September 19, 2012:

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

While the Brewers have emerged as one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last month, the Pirates are on their way to a collapse as they’ve done nothing but struggle as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games. Not only is Milwaukee riding a three-game winning streak, but they’ve managed to win 21 of 27 and trail the St. Louis Cardinals by 2 1/2 games for the second Wild Card spot in the National League.

In other words–the Pirates would be in trouble once again on Wednesday. It’s hard to believe Pittsburgh is 3 1/2 games back of the Cardinals at this point in the regular season, but it should come as no surprise considering this seems to be the same exact thing that happened in the second half of 2011.

Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals

The White Sox realize they will have nobody to blame but themselves this year if they fall short of their goal of making the playoffs this season. With a three-game lead over the Detroit Tigers, Chicago is riding a six-game winning streak into Wednesday’s matchup against Kansas City.

The Royals have lost four of their last five games and going against Chris Sale–who is looking to pick up his 18th win of the season–certainly doesn’t help their case. The Tigers would love all of the help in the world they can get from the Royals in this series, but that may be a bit difficult to happen.
