Matt Slauson Injuries Brian Cushing On Questionable Cut Block

I had never heard of Matt Slauson until tonight and this is not the way I wanted to hear about him.  The New York Jets lineman has gotten some attention for a questionable block that has sidelined Brian Cushing.  It looked bad for Cushing, so take a look at the video and see for yourself.

See, there is two lines of thinking on this play.  By the rules, this is a clean play.  Cushing was not engaged with another blocker, so Slauson has the right to cut him on this play.  You can see this as a good and aggressive block.

The other line of thinking calls this play dirty because the block happened well away from the play.  Cushing was not going to make the tackle, so this block was not going to have an effect on the play.  However, it might have a lasting impact on Cushing and his season.

I can honestly see both sides of this argument.  Slauson was being aggressive but he might have went too far.  You can say the play was dirty, but it was clean by the rulebook.  The situation may have been muddled, which is where the controversy arises.

In terms of the actual game, this one is pretty much a snooze fest.  The Jets are simply a bad football team.  There is nothing exciting about this team.  They are bad at almost every single skill position and there is no hope or future.  Rough times when everyone is talking about a block instead of your actual play.
