Former New York Giant Michael Strahan Pays Team A Visit

There’s no doubt that the New York Giants defensive line is struggling right now. What was supposed to be their biggest strength going into this year has become a huge weakness. The Giants are tied for 25th in the league with only eight sacks through the first five games. Because of this, they rank 23rd in the league against the pass. So what’s the team to do?

In comes former New York Giant great Michael Strahan. Strahan of “FOX NFL Sunday” and “Live With Kelly & Michael” (really odd thing to type) came in to give the defensive line a bit of a pep talk.

“That’s what he pretty much came to talk about, how big of a game it is,” defensive tackle Linval Joseph said. “And just getting your job done. Everybody do their job, and you can get a win. A physical team is a good challenge, and right now is the best time to play them.”

Joseph is right in that the San Francisco 49ers are a physical team, probably the most physical team in the NFC if not the entire league.

I think it’s a good idea for Strahan to come in and talk to the team. He’s not that far removed from playing and was teammates or contemporaries with some of the guys along the defensive line anyway. He has enough pull and isn’t that far off from retiring that his advice is still relevant.

The Giants know what they are in for going into this game. Now it’s just a matter of getting the job done.
