NFL Cincinnati Bengals

Marvin Lewis Does Not Deserve To Be On The Hot Seat

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Ever since the Chad Ochcinco days, Cincinnati Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis has been scrutinized for the way he has conducted his team. I find it absolutely ridiculous to think Lewis has not done his job and then some during his tenure with the Bengals. In ten seasons, Lewis has taken his team to the NFL playoffs four times in a brutal AFC North division. Hanging onto Lewis will be crucial to turning the Bengals into an AFC powerhouse.

Cincinnati has never been a desirable place to play, whatsoever. The franchise itself has also been laughed at on plenty of occasions for one reason or another. Not to mention, the likes of Pacman Jones, Terrell Owens, Tank Johnson and the previously mentioned Ochoccinco causing unwanted attention. Now, the jokers that used to roam Cincinnati are long forgotten, as a new brand of football is being played underneath Lewis.

In particular, the play of Andy Dalton and A.J. Green have allowed the Bengals to reach the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time under Lewis. However, it appeared the light just shined too bright for these two stars against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Sure, Lewis has not produced in the playoffs like Bengals management had hoped, yet he has gone through some tough times with this club and deserves to see it through.

Before Cincy gets the pitchforks and clubs ready, Marvin Lewis deserves to keep his job as head coach with the Bengals. He and his staff has done some impressive things with sub par talent, but with the Bengals draft picks finally maturing Lewis has earned his chance to led them to the big game.
