Seattle Seahawks Aftermath From 2013 NFL Playoffs Exit

Joe Nicholson-US PRESSWIRE

The Seattle Seahawks season ended as they lost a classic battle with the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional weekend of the 2013 NFL Playoffs. This article is a look at what lies ahead for this franchise…

This team is in great hands on offense, but they do have decisions to make on defense as veterans like Leroy Hill and Alan Branch are free-agents. The Seahawks are outstanding vs the pass, but they are also a top 10 team vs the run and Branch and Hill contribute to their depth. Hill was not as good in 2012 as he was previously, but he is a eight year Seahawk. Branch has started all 36 of his games as a Seahawk. If there was a poor area of their rush defense it is that they did yield 4.5 yards per carry so we may see the Seahawks look to draft players to replace Hill and/or Branch to inject some youth up the middle of their defense.

Steven Hauschka is their field goal kicker and he too is a free agent so we will see what direction they want to go with him.

The Seahawks have an extremely tough road schedule next season so more than anything they just need more time together to continue to gel, but we may see this team look to spend some money of wide receiver threats to pair with Russell Wilson. This will be their first off-season trying to add players to help Wilson so they will be very interesting to watch. The 2012 Seahawks surely established that they are an organization to keep an eye on going forward.
