San Francisco 49ers: Michael Crabtree Questioned About Sexual Assault
Throughout the 2012-13 NFL season, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been finally emerging as a legitimate number one wide receiver in the game. The former Texas Tech Red Raider caught 85 balls for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns. All season long, he has been making headlines for the right reasons.
Now, however, he may be making them for the wrong ones.
The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Crabtree has been interviewed by police, regarding allegations that the 49ers wideout sexually assaulted a woman following the team’s playoff victory last weekend. The alleged attack took place in a hotel in the city just hours after defeating the Green Bay Packers. Crabtree is making himself available for interviews and has not been arrested.
Timing couldn’t be worse for this news to break, as Crabtree and the 49ers are preparing to take on the Atlanta Falcons during this weekend’s NFC Championship contest. Despite the allegations, as of right now Crabtree is expected to be in uniform as well as in action for the all important tilt. The chemistry between the fourth year receiver and red hot quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been unstoppable since Kaepernick was placed under center.
Hopefully this doesn’t end up being a major bump in the road to stardom for Crabtree. Over his past six games, he is averaging 7.3 catches, 109.5 yards and one touchdown per game. Continue to follow this story as it develops, but again, Crabtree is still expected to be active for Sunday’s matchup with the Falcons.
