There is no doubt in my mind Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is the MVP of NFC Championship Game, so far he has thrown for almost 300 yards, but the Falcons’ defense let the San Francisco 49ers right back in this game at the end of the second half and to start the third quarter. Ryan needs to keep the pressure on the 49ers secondary and they cannot play this game not to lose.
Turnovers have not been a factor in this game, so if a team turns the ball over in the second half they will probably lose. The Falcons can’t go away from their game plan in the second half. They need to continue to throw the ball and hand it off to RB Michael Turner. The 49ers secondary have not responded to their passing attack and until they do, it would be stupid to change.
TE Tony Gonzalez, WR Julio Jones and Roddy White all had a big first half. If the 49ers are not careful, all three receivers will go over 100 yards and Ryan will go over 400 yards passing. This would be very embarrassing for a team that finished fourth in passing yards allowed.
This game is far from over; if the 49ers can get to Ryan, he is going to have a tough time. He will start to throw interceptions and the 49ers will jump on any mistake he makes. Right now both offenses are clicking and it will not change throughout this game.
