Jonathan Quick Unveils New Mask For LA Kings’ Retro Jerseys

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-US PRESSWIRE

We’ve already seen some pretty sharp designs this offseason, as far as NHL goalie masks go. We’ve seen masks representing The Shining and The Big Lebowski. However, Jonathan Quick may have my favorite design of this summer, with his newlook.

Quick already sports one of my favorite looks in the league, in regard to goalie masks. His current design is one of the simpler looks in the league, but you have to dig his mask, which looks like a knight’s helmet, as pictured above. His new look is quite similar to that one, only different.

The Kings have one of the better throwbacks in the league, at least in my opinion. Their second alternates are a tribute to their old look, with the purple and yellow colors. They might be the only team in sports that can actually pull of that look and maintain their dignity.

Quick’s new look looks a lot like his current one, but rather than a silver design on this one, his new one pays tribute with a yellow and purple look to match the throwbacks. Check it out below:

Jonathan Quick is not only one of the best goaltenders in the league, he’s one of its best players overall. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP last year, and very well could have won the Vezina, and probably should have.

With his offseason back surgery, it’s unlikely we’ll see Quick make the jump over to Europe or anywhere during this lockout. Watching Quick step back out on the ice, especially with this new mask, is just one of the many reasons we’re so eager for this lockout to end quickly.
