Michigan Wolverines Need Big Rebuild Lose Tim Hardaway Jr. to NBA Draft

Richard Rowe-USA TODAY Sports

Well, the Michigan Wolverines certainly have some rebuilding to do now.

Tim Hardaway Jr. will be testing the waters of the NBA draft. He is rated as a second round pick on many mock drafts at the moment. This came shortly after the Wolverines lost Trey Burke, Big Ten player of the year, to the draft as well.

“It was just tough, trying to get as much information as possible and making the right decision,” Hardaway said. “Going to the NBA is the right decision for me. I made my decision yesterday. It felt good, felt better about myself and it was good to get it off my shoulders.”

The Wolverines will be back though.

Jalen Rose and the rest of the Fab Five’s involvement in this year’s team will help them in the future. It is not a mistake that just a couple years after the athletic program accedpted Rose back, then the Wolverines suddenly have a few players who were sons of former pro players. Just connect the dots.

Hardaway Jr. had a fantastic career at Michigan and it is probably the right decision for him to try and strike while the iron is hot. He scored 1,532 points in his career and also finished with 202 made 3-pointers, which is sixth in school history.

He was a a first-team all-Big Ten selection, but did struggle a little bit in the national championship game. That’s behind him now though, and now we’ll see what kind of a pro he will make.
