Jurgen Klopp unaffected by Jose Mourinho’s mind-games

CSPA – USA TODAY Sports

Jose Mourinho is up to his old pre-big-match mind-games ahead of Real Madrid‘s Champions League semi-final tie with Borussia Dortmund. Mourinho has been claiming that Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp ’speaks too much’.

Interestingly, Klopp isn’t giving total respect to ‘The Special One’, as anyone who has followed Klopp in recent times will well know, Klopp has a total confidence in himself which is slightly similar to Mourinho’s persona, but without the outrageous arrogance.

Mourinho said;

“Klopp has spoken every day since the [semi-final] draw and I haven’t said a word. I’ve only said that all the teams in the semi-finals are good, difficult to play against and that’s enough. We’ll talk about that game again on Tuesday. We’ve worked hard on it during these past two weeks.”

There is little need to describe what Mourinho is attempting to say, as Klopp effectively did so himself;

“So Mourinho says I talk a lot? That’s what one of my teachers used to say. I’ll shut up, then”

It’s slightly sarcastic from Klopp but it’s nice to see another manager is set to square up with Mourinho both tactically and egotistically. Mourinho already divides opinion but has a wide amount of respect; whilst Klopp and Dortmund are also gathering large amounts of support as they aim for European glory. Let’s hope Wednesday’s first leg in Germany is a classic as we’re on course for hopefully one of the greatest Champions League Finals in years.

Dortmund beat Mainz 05 2-0 in their league game this weekend, whilst Madrid beat Real Betis 3-1.
