Manny Pacquiao Would Take 45 Percent Share to Fight Floyd Mayweather

Boxing fans have been waiting a long time to see Manny Pacquiao fight Floyd Mayweather in the ring and now–it appears Pacquiao wants to fight his opponent so bad that he’s willing to take a pay cut.

Pacquiao wants this fight to happen to the point where he’s willing to take a 45 percent share for the event and let Mayweather keep 55 percent. Whether he wins or loses the fight, Pacquiao has made it clear that he will take that amount regardless–he just wants to see this fight happen.

“Win or lose, I’ll take 45%,” Pacquiao said. “Floyd can have top billing, he can be introduced in the ring first or last.

“He can wear my trunks. I don’t care. I just want to get him in the ring and make the fight.”

Three years ago, this fight would have plenty of excitement, but it’s hard to imagine fans feeling the same way today.

After Pacquiao lost the controversial fight to Timothy Bradley back in June, it’s hard not to wonder if he’s trying to get Mayweather in the ring as an opportunity to redeem himself. Pacquiao losing to Bradley was one of the biggest surprises in the boxing world and it was obvious Pacquiao didn’t take the loss well–so a matchup against Mayweather may be just what he needs.

As far as whether or not Mayweather would be up for the fight–that’s a different story. Whether this fight happens or not, one thing is certain–Pacquiao vs. Matweather would certainly be a great matchup for boxing fans to watch.
