Here’s the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic for October 4, 2012:
At the beginning of the season, this may not have seemed like the most exciting of matchups, but Thursday’s game between the Cardinals and Rams could turn out to be a good one based off how both teams have started off the 2012 season.
Arizona has been one of the biggest surprises so far over the first four weeks as they are one of three remaining unbeaten teams with impressive wins over the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. The Cardinals have been rolling over the last two weeks thanks to Larry Fitzgerald (17 catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns) stepping it up in the passing game and Kevin Kolb looking like a completely different quarterback from a year ago.
As for St. Louis, they deserve plenty of credit considering they’ve already matched their win total from last season and seem to have what it takes to compete with the other three teams in the division. Both defenses have been playing surprisingly well so far this season and should be interesting to see how these two teams perform against one another on Thursday.
However, the Cardinals may have the edge in this one since they seem to have an advantage over the Rams on both offense and defense. This could easily turn into a low-scoring game, but don’t be surprised if Arizona improves to 5-0 on the season after this one.
